about

Hello to the entire NOV community,

The other side of Nova Materia goes by the name Beta Pictoris. It is under this identity that we sign our film scores. Over the years, several of these pieces of music have remained unreleased, which is why we have decided to put them out. We're starting by unveiling the original soundtrack of "Videoclub," a Chilean zombie film directed by filmmaker Pablo Illanes.

In this 8-track instrumental EP, Beta Pictoris reveals the previously unreleased soundtrack of the horror film "Videoclub," which premiered in theaters in 2013. Playing with the conventions of zombie films, Beta Pictoris presents a soundtrack infused with electronic sounds reminiscent of John Carpenter's compositions and 80s horror movie scores. The EP shifts between darkwave tracks with infectious arpeggios ("Amanecer Zombie," "Ataque Zombie") and ambient soundscapes, crafting futuristic and urban sonic landscapes ("Playa Sonica," "Miedo"). The music was composed using vintage analog synthesizers (Telemark, MS-20) and drum machines (TR-808, MPC1000), resulting in a meticulous soundtrack featuring eerie urban sirens, dark disco rhythms, synthwave elements, and ethereal electronic layers.

about

Nova Materia Paris, France

Nova Materia’s powerful, hypnotic music incorporates eerie sounds generated by raw and mineral materials (metal, rocks etc) to create tracks that are in turn hyper-rhythmic and dreamy, poised between postpunk rock and electronic dance music.
